When to use it

✓ Use it when

Building IaC tools, internal platforms, or integrations that need to manage many resource types without writing separate code for each API.

✗ Avoid it when

You only need to build ordinary infrastructure → CloudFormation / CDK; calling a specific service → that service's SDK.

Common uses

  • IaC tool vendors quickly supporting new AWS services
  • Internal portal listing resources in a uniform way
  • Automate creating/deleting resources of many types

What does it cost?

  • Pricing model: No separate charge for AWS resources; you pay for the resources created; third-party resources may be charged per handler operation, as with CloudFormation.
